Jesse Raymond Williams was the son of hardworking parents. His father worked in construction and his mother in the food industry. When Jesse was in his sophomore year, his father fell and broke his back. As the oldest son, Jesse had to quit high school and help support the family by washing dishes at the restaurant where his mother was a cook. It may be a coincidence, but as an adult he loved to cook and tend his garden, and he was good at it!
Jesse loved fishing and hunting with his father, brother, and other relatives. He shared his love of fishing with his five daughters, all of whom have fond memories of fishing with their dad.
He was clever and witty and without a doubt had the “gift of gab”! He was fun to be with. He was an avid health enthusiast; eating healthy foods, jogging and working out and encouraged others to do the same.
He always had a project going. A nephew once said, “If Uncle doesn’t know how to do something; he buys a book on the subject and figures it out.”
Jesse was a leader and influencer in the law enforcement community. He gave years of public service in the Reno and Sacramento Police Departments. He also served security detail in Reno casinos, Grand Auto and Macy’s.
He and his wife Vicki owned and operated a successful private investigation business for 38 years. He was an entrepreneur always seeking to provide service to others by fighting for what he thought was right and helping people along their life’s journey. In 1982 he ran for Sacramento Sheriff.
About 2010 Jesse recognized he was having problems with his memory. He had lost his own father to Alzheimer’s in 1990. He researched and contacted several doctors. He and Vicki were committed to following their advice. Through these efforts, they believe he was able to slow the progression of the disease.
Jesse was admitted to Mercy San Juan Hospital for medical care on November 30. He passed away on December 4. We are so grateful for all the medical staff that cared for him. Their compassion and concern were genuine!
Though he is gone, he will always live in our hearts and in our family stories. Jesse, a superman in our lives, has blessed us all.
