Thomas Joseph Spagnola

Thomas Joseph Spagnola, affectionately known as "Sunny," left this earth on June 2, 2025, after a short illness. Born on February 24, 1945, in Fullerton, California, Tom’s journey through life was characterized by his warmth, humor, and unwavering commitment to making others laugh.

For 20 years, Tom dedicated himself to a career in transportation, a field he embraced until his well-earned retirement in 2000. He took pride in his work, approaching each day with a zeal that reflected his larger-than-life personality. Those who knew him will remember him not just for his professional endeavors, but for the laughter and joy he brought into their lives. Although he occasionally had an intimidating presence, beneath that exterior lay a genuine teddy bear; his greatest happiness stemmed from making others smile.

Tom's loving relationship with his spouse, Shirlene, began in 1975 at the California State Fair, where their paths first crossed. Their connection blossomed into a partnership filled with shared experiences and cherished memories. One of Tom's proudest accomplishments was being sealed for eternity to Shirlene, a day that brought him immeasurable joy.

In addition to his professional life and family, Tom had diverse interests that brought him delight during his leisure time. He had a knack for building things, particularly engines, which revealed his hands-on creativity. Moreover, his love for collecting baseball cards was a testament to his passion for nostalgia, connecting him with the joys of childhood.

Tom is lovingly remembered by his spouse, Shirlene Spagnola, and his cousins, James Gregory and Jana. He is preceded in death by his sister, Roseanna Souza. Each of them carries a piece of him in their hearts, honoring the warmth and laughter he brought to their lives.
