Talbert Adan Colson of Sacramento passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025. He was born on April 23, 1948 in Vallejo, California to Emily (Cratz) Phillips Floyd and Delbert Colson. He attended schools in the Bay Area and graduated from San Bruno High School in 1965. He enlisted in the Army right out of high school and was stationed in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge, he attended San Jose State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Tal worked for Southland Corporation as a District Manager before going into business for himself. He purchased Tal’s Food Fair Market in Rio Vista in 1979, then purchased Off Broadway restaurant in Sacramento in 1984. Both businesses were sold in the late 1980s.
Tal was very active in softball throughout the years, sponsoring teams under his two business names. He had a love of music and had an extensive record collection.
Tal is predeceased by his mother; brothers Theodore (Ted), Terence (Terry) and Thomas (Tom) Phillips; sister-in-law Janis; nephews Wade and Tommy; and niece Sandra. He is survived by his children, Clay Colson, Emily McPherson, and Jordan Taylor; sister-in-law Virginia Phillips Wing; nephews Darryl, Duane, Dean and Timmy; and nieces Suzanne, Sherry and Cindy.

The Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, located at 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620.
