Suzanne Palmer (Sue) passed away in her sleep from heart/vascular issues at UC Davis Hospital in Sacramento on June 1, 2026. Sue is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Betty Palmer, brother Timothy and sister-in-law/dear friend Judy. She is survived by her daughter Tessa, son in law Stephen, granddaughter Betty, sister Ginger, brother Christopher, sister in law Sherry, many nieces, a nephew and their families. Sue had many adventures in life and got into quite a bit of fun. She was the 1971 Pierce College Rodeo Queen and loved her horses dearly. She fearlessly went sky diving for her 25th birthday and survived being dropped into a parking lot which shattered her ankle, but not her love of adventure. She was once a winning contestant on "Let's make a Deal". Sue grew up in the Los Angeles area, attended Louisville High School, Pierce College and CSU Northridge. She resided in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas before settling in to the Folsom and Sacramento areas where she lived for many years. She held a Bachelor of Arts in Radio and Film. This career took her on adventures filming cliff divers in Acapulco and professional snow skiers in Aspen. She did voice work for Disney educational films before beginning her career in sales. Sue worked in sales for Hang Ten, Pacific Bell and Pearson Education. She enjoyed building personal relationships with clients often with humor. Sue was a feminist, a dedicated member of the Democratic Party and volunteered her time to various political causes that she cared about. These included the Folsom No on O Campaign and Folsom Site Council. She was proud to be a single working mom and valued education. She and her friend Jane created a spelling enrichment program for Folsom Middle School and they were awarded Parent Volunteers of the Year. She beat breast cancer three times. Sue was a dog lover and had a heart for rescue dogs (Austin and Mister were especially beloved). In her later years, she enjoyed baking for her friends and family, was an avid reader and loved all types of word puzzles. She was recently picked as the Sunday weekly puzzle winner on NPR. Her car will be donated to NPR in her memory. Sue was a very independent and strong woman with a sarcastic humor and a quick wit. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A virtual celebration of life will be held this summer.
