Sandra Kim Cota, 71, passed peacefully on the evening of Friday, January 23, 2026, after a five-year battle with stage IV lung cancer. She faced her illness with quiet strength, grace, and an unwavering concern for others—hallmarks of the life she lived.

Sandra was a true free spirit: lively, outgoing, and endlessly warm. She made friends wherever she went, often within minutes, and had a rare gift for making people feel instantly at ease. Kindness came naturally to her, and generosity was simply part of her everyday rhythm.

She loved creating things with her hands and was always searching for her next craft project. Baking and cooking were acts of love, and her kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter, and welcome. Crocheting was another way she shared her heart—every new baby in her world received a handmade blanket, each one stitched with care, patience, and affection.

In her later years, Sandra extended that same love to animals in need. She helped spoil more than 30 foster dogs through a local rescue, offering them safety, warmth, and reassurance during uncertain times. For many of them, she was a gentle bridge between hardship and home.

Sandra will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her open heart, and the countless quiet ways she made the world brighter. Her legacy lives on in shared meals, handmade blankets, grateful friends, and wagging tails.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, her favorite charity.
