Peggy Joyce Ferdinand was born on February 27, 1929 in Marmarth, North Dakota, Carl August and Charlotte May Carlson were her parents. Peggy was the daughter between Charlotte "Ilene" and Norma Irene.
While the girls were very young, the family traveled west across the upper United States and ended up in a small community called Meadow Valley near Quincy, CA in 1945. In June of 1949, she graduated from Quincy High School, where she met her loving husband, Lorrin Ferdinand II. They were married on May 21, 1950 at her parents' home in Meadow Valley, CA.
Soon after that they moved to Truckee, CA where they had four children; Sandra Jean of Sacramento, CA, Gayle Ann of West Point, UT, Cindy Sue of Sacramento, CA, and Lorrin Way Ill of Brentwood, CA.
While living in Truckee, Peggy worked part time at a coffee shop called, "Coffee And." She would bring home delicious date bars from the bakery for all to enjoy. In 1969 her husband Lorin was promoted while working for Cal Gas Company so the family moved to Sacramento. Peggy worked several jobs after moving as a sales clerk in the jewelry department at J.C. Penney. Years later she worked at Stewart Title, Capital Nursery and Walker Hardware where she was a bookkeeper.
After 25 years of marriage Peggy and Lorrin divorced. She then lived an independent life, but enjoyed visits, photographs and phone calls from her 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Peggy's hobbies were collecting glass hummingbirds, sewing, genealogy, scrapbooking and gardening. She was also close to her only living cousin, Peggy Davidson that corresponded with her from Blaine, Washington.
