Michael Ross Teter

Michael "Mike" Ross Teter, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Mike was born on April 18, 1946, in St. James, Minnesota, to Raymond and Marcielle Teter.

He was the only son among four sisters: Carol (Church), Judy (Hilton), Dorothy (Bird), and Susan (Waller). His family later moved to California, where he graduated from Elk Grove Senior High School in 1965.

After high school, Mike proudly joined the United States Air Force, serving as an aircraft mechanic. He was deployed to Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base with the 44th Tactical Fighter Squadron, where he provided mechanical support for F-105 aircraft during the Vietnam War.

Following his military service, Mike continued his career in aviation, first working with helicopters and later as a civilian employee at McClellan Air Force Base. He dedicated many years to his work before retiring in 1999.

In 1989, Mike met the love of his life and best friend, Susan. They were married on June 18, 1994. Susan brought two daughters into their relationship, Courtney (Dollarhide) and Cyndel (Pelzer), whom Mike loved, cherished, and raised as his own. Together, Mike and Susan built a wonderful life in Wheatland, California, where they shared 32 happy years.

Mike treasured time with his wife and family. Wherever he went, he had a remarkable ability to "find a friend," striking up conversations and taking a genuine interest in the lives of others. He was also well known for giving his famous "free advice." As Mike liked to say, "It's free because if you take it, you won't have to pay for it later."

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Susan, Judy, and Dorothy; his beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Muffin; his grand-dog, Bryher; and many other cherished family members and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his sister, Carol; his daughters, Courtney and Cyndel; and his grandchildren, Britney, Karl, Ninah, and Jasper.

In accordance with Mike's wishes, no services will be held. Instead, we ask that you honor his memory by taking a moment to reflect on a favorite memory of Mike, hugging a loved one, and lending a helping hand to someone in need. We believe there is no better way to celebrate the life he lived and the kindness he shared.
