Mike Barry Figueira

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of Michael Barry Figueira, who passed away on January 21, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Disease with Parkinsonism.

Mike was predeceased by his parents Alice (Foltz) and Charles Figueira and is survived by his three loving and devoted sisters whom he adored – Julie Lee (Tim), Diane Lewis (Mike), and Betsy Figueira (Stephen Williams) – and their families, including being “Uncle Mike” to Daniel, Matthew, Scott, and Jamie. Mike is also survived by his longtime and dearest friend Kris Vecere, with whom he shared a love of musical theater and many delightful visits before and throughout his illness, and his former roommate Emer Pacleb, with whom he shared friendship and the love of everything music. Warmest thanks to the staff and volunteers at The Meadows and Bristol Hospice, who lovingly provided Mike with care and comfort.

Born and raised in Rancho Cordova, California, Mike graduated Class of 1979 from Cordova High School, attended American River Community College and San Jose State University, and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English/Creative Writing from San Francisco State University. Over the years, he held various retail, creative, and office jobs, but his true passions were music and theater, having sung and acted since high school.

Mike spent nearly his entire adult life in San Francisco, where he definitely left his heart. He delighted in performing at 42nd Street Moon and singing with the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, where he also wrote and arranged the occasional song and collaborated on skits for performance by the Chorus, including at their magical holiday shows. Music was Mike’s language that remained with him forever… always a song in his heart.

Mike, we will never forget your beautiful smile, kind heart, sharp mind, quick wit, silly sense of humor, booming laugh, and magnificent eyebrows. We love you dearly and miss you beyond words. The Wizard of Oz was Mike’s lifelong favorite movie – he also collected many of the original books in the Oz world. So, whenever you see a rainbow, know that Mike is over at the other end singing a familiar song in his lovely, sweet voice.
