Melvin Leroy Hillier 

July 4, 1941 – July 8, 2026

Melvin Leroy Hillier, 85, of Roseville, California, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at Kaiser Hospital in Roseville, surrounded by his loving family. His wife and three sons were holding his hands as he went home to heaven.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Melvin was the son of the late Charles Bolvin Hillier and Melva Irene Jones. He graduated from Chico State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and enjoyed a distinguished 30-year career in education with the Pioneer Union School District at Berry Creek Elementary School. He served as a 4th–6th grade teacher, Vice Principal, and Principal. Melvin lovingly guided hundreds of young lives from childhood to adulthood, leaving a lasting impact through his patience, wisdom, and dedication.

Melvin was a man of deep faith. Jesus Christ was his Savior, and he lived his life in accordance with the teachings of the Bible. Known by all as a truly great man, he never showed anger and extended kindness to everyone he met. His gentle spirit and quiet strength were a blessing to his family and community.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Estelle Melody Hillier; his three sons, Dennis Paul Hillier, John Daniel Hillier, and Steven Lee Hillier; his brother, Dennis Charles Hillier; and his sisters, Andrea Lynn Davis and Sandy Moyer. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 5th at 11:00 a.m. in the Presentation Hall at Kilaga Springs Lodge, Sun City Lincoln, 1167 Sun City Blvd, Lincoln, CA 95648. A reception will follow at 12:30 p.m.

In accordance with Melvin’s wishes, donations may be made to Valley View Christian Church at Kilaga Springs Lodge, Lincoln, CA.

Melvin will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, educator, and man of unwavering faith whose kindness touched countless lives. His legacy of love, integrity, and gentle strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
