John Wilcox was born on June 29, 1951, in Casper, Wyoming to James and Joan Wilcox.
A devoted husband, John shared 53 years of marriage with his wife and best friend, Joanne. Together they created a life in Sacramento built on love, laughter, and family. He was a very proud father to his two children, Greg and Denise.
John took great pride in being a grandfather, lovingly called “Papa.” His son, Greg, and daughter-in-law, Diane, are the parents of two sons, Dawson and Haydon, who brought him endless happiness. His daughter, Denise, and son-in-law, Cliff, welcomed a daughter, Chloe, who was Papa’s little girl.
He was the eldest child of 5 and grew up alongside his brothers, Peter (Sally) and Michael (Liz), and his sisters, Deirdre and Emily. In addition, John was an uncle to 6 nieces and nephews.
John attended Belarmine College Prepartory and also earned a B.S. in Finance/Economics and an MBA from Santa Clara University. He had fond memories of playing football at both schools. The majority of his career was spent in the finance and banking industry.
John was a man who lived life carefree, embracing each day with an easy spirit and a grateful heart. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures…time spent with family, listening to a variety of music from Jimmy Buffet to Pitbull, golfing, and traveling with Joanne. His laid-back approach to life and genuine appreciation for the moments that mattered most left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
John will be remembered for his kind soul, his silly jokes, relaxed outlook on life, and his unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he cherished so deeply.
