Obituary

In Loving Memory of Jerome Howard Barak

Jerome Howard Barak, a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and proud patriot, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on May 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 86 years old.

A Legacy of Service: From the Skies to the Screen

Born with a sharp mind and an adventurous spirit, Jerome dedicated his life to serving his country. He served honorably for 20 years as a Navigator for the United States Air Force, bravely flying missions during the Vietnam War. His military career took him across the skies, a testament to his precision, courage, and deep patriotism.

An early enthusiast of technology, Jerry seamlessly transitioned his love for computers into his civilian career. He continued his dedication to the military community by working as a computer programmer at McClellan Air Force Base for an additional 20 years. In total, his 40-year legacy of service lives on through his children.

A Life of Passion and Simple Pleasures

Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry was a man of diverse interests and intellectual curiosity. He was an avid traveler, always eager to explore new places and experience the world. At home, he found great joy in life's simple, beautiful moments. He was a passionate film buff who loved old movies and possessed a deep appreciation for music, listening to all genres throughout his life. Jerome also shared a uniquely special bond with his beloved pet bird, Eddie, whom he loved like a son.

The Providing Family Man

Above all his achievements, Jerry’s greatest legacy is the family he built and adored. He was a deeply devoted husband, married to the love of his life, Pao Kuei, for 58 years. Together, they built a life rooted in love family and friends. In the summertime, Jerry could most often be found in his absolute favorite element: tending to his beautiful vegetable garden, or sitting contentedly on his porch swing, sipping a glass of iced tea and enjoying the peaceful afternoon breeze.

Jerry’s warm and gentle spirit will be missed by those he leaves behind:

His Beloved Wife: Pao Kuei Barak

His Daughters: Andrija Barak and Jennifer Barak

His Son-in-Law: Cedric (husband to Jennifer)

His Cherished Grandchildren: Mina and Dmitri (children of Andrija); Paco and Luka (sons of Jennifer and Cedric)

His Sister and Brother-in-Law: Sheri Barak and her husband, John Aira
