George Rubiaco

  • George Rubiaco was a loving Husband, dedicated Father, adoring Grandfather and a fun-loving
  • Brother, Uncle and Cousin. His number one commitment was to his faith, family, friends and
  • community.

  • From his humble beginnings as a Youth Conservation Corp enrollee to the respected position as
  • a Forest Fire Management Officer he worked on the Klamath, Sierra, Mendocino, and Olympic
  • National Forests where he enjoyed serving his communities of Yreka CA, North Fork CA, Willows
  • CA, Olympia WA, Pollock Pines CA, Burnsville NC, Mars Hill NC and Eureka CA.

  • After a 31-year career, he retired at 50 years old and enjoyed 18 years in retirement that he
  • spent hunting, fishing, glamping in his fifth-wheel camper and completing “Forestry by George”
  • projects on several properties that he owned. He was an active member of the St. Monica
  • Parish in Willows and the St. Andrews Catholic Church in Mars Hill. Over his lifetime he visited
  • all 50 states and his favorite role was PawPaw to six amazing grandchildren. He recently asked
  • for a shirt that said, “I’m not retired! I’m a full-time PawPaw!”. His love, laughter and legacy will
  • be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew him…
