Fred Phillips, III was born on April 16, 1961 in Fairbanks, Alaska. Both his parents, Fred and Emily Phillips, served in the military. Fred is the fourth of nine children. He spent most of his childhood in Vallejo, CA before moving to Birmingham, AL and graduating high school in his mother’s hometown in Louisiana. After high school, he enlisted in the Army. Before retiring, he served 26 years and rose to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer III with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Bronze Star. Fred earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in IT from the University of Maryland. Fred has also served the Lord. He was ordained in the Church of God Anderson in 1992. He served as a Children’s Minister, Associate Pastor as well as assisting the Army Chaplain in bringing the Word to thousands of men and women in the military. Fred founded Sunrise Community Church of Rancho Cordova. He also served in the Men’s Ministry in the Interstate Church of God. Fred is the author of Roasted Peanuts, The Numbers Talk, The Milk Song and A History of Abhorrence. He founded the Phillips Broadcasting Network to assist other ministries in presenting the Message online. Fred is survived by his wife, Lady Lia Phillips and siblings Charles, Brenda, Freda, Sylvia, Linda, Timothy, Gregory and Kim. He leaves his children (and spouses) Brandon, Brittany and Mark, Laurel, Janelle, Ashley and Nkenji, Monica and Anthony. Also survived by grandchildren Aubrey, Roosevelt, Parker, Kyra, Ryan, Mason and one on the way.
