Esther Jean Hawkins, beloved and precious mother, daughter, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on the evening of February 24, 2026, in Roseville, California.

Jeanne was born at home on October 4, 1940, in Selma, California. After graduating high school in Visalia, California, in 1958, she went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree in business from Fresno State College. Jeanne loved numbers and solving puzzles and very much enjoyed her work as an accountant for more than 30 years.

In addition to her family and work, Jeanne loved to travel, see the sites, and learn about the various places that she visited. In her earlier years she traveled throughout the United States and western Canada, and to England, Greece, and Portugal. She also loved to visit and explore Oregon and Washington, Yosemite, the Lake Tahoe area, and Bodega Bay, which she did frequently with her husband, daughter, her siblings and their families. In later years Jeanne loved to cruise with family and friends, seeing Alaska once and then Hawaii multiple times.

Jeanne’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her kind and nurturing spirit will be with us forever as a guide. Her quiet sense of humor, her love of life, and her ability to make all those around her feel cherished will be sorely missed but not forgotten.

Jeanne is survived by her only daughter and best friend, Michele Hawkins. She also leaves behind her loving sister and brother, Nola (Don) Phillips of Georgetown, Texas, and Kenneth (Charlene) Wheeler of Rocklin, California; and her much loved nieces Kathy, Meri, Sheri, and Tami, and nephews Ken, and Tom, and their spouses and families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Hawkins; mother, Thelah Thiede; stepfather, Gilbert Wheeler; oldest sister, Anne Abreu; and youngest sister, Lynn.
