Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Diehl, 82, passed away on May 18, 2026, from complications related to a heart attack he had suffered in 2017. His devoted daughter Gina was by his side.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, Chuck grew up with strong Midwestern roots and graduated from Brookville High School. In 1967, he moved to the San Jose area of California, where he built both a career and a life, he was proud of. He first worked for General Electric before joining FMC, a defense contractor, where he spent 25 dedicated years as a skilled machinist. Chuck took great pride in his craft and enjoyed camaraderie with his coworkers, especially while playing softball on the company's intramural team.

Chuck was married twice, and from his first marriage he welcomed two children. In his later years, he remained especially close to his daughter Gina, who was a constant source of love and support.

After retiring from FMC, Chuck relocated to Sacramento in the early 2000s to be near Gina (Rick) and his cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Angela. Family was always at the heart of who Chuck was, and he never missed an opportunity to support his grandchildren at their many activities and events.

A lifelong baseball enthusiast, Chuck was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds. He also enjoyed attending car shows and taking peaceful walks through local parks, Rusch Park being a particular favorite.

In 2012, Chuck met Melody, the love of his life. Their years together were filled with joy, companionship, and deep affection. Chuck remained by her side throughout her courageous battle with cancer, cherishing every moment they shared.

Chuck will be remembered for his quiet strength, his loyalty, and the deep love he held for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and unwavering support for those he loved.
