Catherine Watt Chun, born on October 31, 1927, in Gardenstown, Scotland, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, in Roseville, California, surrounded by her loving family. Her life spanned over 98 remarkable years, marked by dedication, resilience, a deep commitment to her loved ones, and strong faith in God.
In her early years, Catherine worked at Murray's Bakery in Gardenstown. Upon moving to the United States, she worked as a nanny and attended nursing school. She then served as a registered nurse in pediatrics at Henry Ford Hospital, and as a phlebotomist. Upon becoming a mother, Catherine dedicated herself to raising her children with unwavering devotion. Catherine was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Throughout her life, Catherine exemplified love and support for her family, friends and community. Her passing was met with deep sorrow by those who knew her, yet also with gratitude for the rich and meaningful life she led. Catherine Watt Chun’s memory will continue to inspire her family and all who were fortunate to know her. Her presence in Gardenstown and later in Roseville left an indelible mark, reflecting a life well-lived with grace, dignity and compassion.
She is survived by daughters Lisa Chun and Nancy (Brian) Oppy, and son David (Karla) Chun; grandchildren James Oppy, Elizabeth Oppy, Kelsey (Arick) Koeth, Kyle Chun, Tyler Chun, and great grandchildren Clark Koeth and Chloe Koeth.
Catherine was preceded in death by her sister Agnes Watt, and brothers Gilbert Watt, James Watt, and William Watt.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 10:30am at Twin Oaks Avenue Baptist Church, 7690 Twin Oaks Ave., Citrus Heights, CA. Private interment at Roseville Cemetery, 421 Berry Street, Roseville, CA.
