Obituary

Armand “Papa” Butticci Jr., age 93, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, in Roseville, California, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on September 6, 1932, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco, California, Armand was a proud San Franciscan whose life reflected dedication to family, faith, hard work, and the city and teams he loved so dearly. Known affectionately as “June” to his beloved wife Maria, and “Senior” to many others, he carried himself with quiet strength, kindness, and humility throughout his life.

Armand proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army with the 1st Cavalry Division, APO 201. Following his military service, he pursued the sheet metal trade, following in his father’s footsteps and eventually founding Comco Sheet Metal. Through his craftsmanship, leadership, and work ethic, he built not only a successful business, but a legacy that continues today through his sons and grandson who remain in the trade.

Above all else, Armand was a family man. He shared nearly 70 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Maria G. Butticci, whom he would have celebrated 70 years of marriage with this coming September 1st. Together they built a beautiful family rooted in love, loyalty, tradition, and togetherness.

He is survived by his loving wife Maria; his children Armand III, Theresa, Michael, and Leonard; his grandchildren Armand IV, Alicia, Alyssa, Grace, James, Laina, Danny, Izzy, and Sammy; and his great-granddaughters Addison, Avery, and Renn.

He was the oldest of four brothers and is survived by his brother Ed. He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Dennis.

Papa was known as a kind, smart, gentle, fair, and witty man who showed unconditional love to those around him. He was the kind of person who was always hands-on — whether working, helping family, caring for his yard and pool, or spending time with his grandchildren whom he adored.

A lifelong and passionate San Francisco sports fan, Armand faithfully supported the San Francisco 49ers from the days of Kezar Stadium through Candlestick Park and beyond to Santa Clara. He also remained a devoted San Francisco Giants fan and longtime season ticket holder at their current ballpark. Some of his happiest memories were made traveling the country in his motorhome with Maria, including visiting every Major League Baseball stadium together to watch games along the way. He also attended several Super Bowls and loved traveling to Giants Spring Training.

Armand enjoyed life’s simple pleasures — crossword puzzles, Sunday Mass at St. Bonaventure Church, large Thanksgiving gatherings surrounded by family, and creating a home where everyone always felt welcome.

He retired at the age of 62, but never stopped caring for the people he loved. His legacy lives on through the family he built, the trade he passed down, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, fairness, and quiet wisdom.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
