Anthony M. Pinna

Anthony M. Pinna, affectionately known as “Tony,” passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, at Kaiser Roseville. He was 85 years old and a resident of Rocklin, California.

Tony was born on November 12, 1940, in Hong Kong to the late Luis G. Pinna and Yoland M. Pinna. At the age of 13, he immigrated to San Francisco with his mother. Due to severe health issues sustained during his internment in a concentration camp during World War II, Tony’s father was unable to join them in the United States until 1958.

That same year, Tony graduated from St. Ignatius High School in San Francisco. He went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1965 to 1967.

Tony was a man of immense dedication and a lifelong learner. He spent his entire 31-year career at Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), starting as a draftsman on February 5, 1962, and retiring on June 1, 1993, as a Manager in the Project Engineering Substation Department. While balancing his career and family, his passion for education never waned; he earned his Bachelor of Science in Management in 1985 and his MBA in 1992.

Outside of his professional life, Tony filled his days with music, movement and community. He was an accomplished musician, who loved playing the piano, harmonica, and ukulele. He cherished traveling with his wife, with his most memorable adventure of walking 100 miles on the Camino de Santiago at the age of 74. Tony loved dancing with his wife, singing karaoke with his family and friends, hitting the greens for his weekly Monday golf games, volunteering for AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, and meetups with his buddies for his Sunday car club.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Janet, whom he famously met in an elevator at work in 1980. He is also survived by his loving children: son Mike and daughter-in-law Danielle, daughter Susan and son-in-law Jim, and daughter Natalie and son-in-law Lyle. He was a proud grandfather of Sara and Joe, Joseph, Audrey, and Gina, and a great grandfather of Madison and Owen. He will also be deeply missed by his brother-in-law Steve, sister-in-law Tomoko, nephew/niece Nicolas and Christine, and great nephew/niece Luca and Lonnie.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00AM at the Italian Cemetery, Main Chapel, located at 540 F Street, Colma, California. In lieu of flowers, Tony’s favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tunnel To Towers Foundation and Shriners Children’s Northern California.
