In Loving Memory of Aaron Loui
- It is with fond memories and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Aaron Lee Dong Siu
- Loui on May 19, 2025.
- Aaron was born on September 9, 1952, in the Territory of Hawaii to Irene Lee and Lawrence
- Hoon Chow Loui. He spent his early years surfing the beautiful Hawaiian beaches and working
- in the pineapple fields—experiences that helped shape his easygoing nature and strong work
- ethic.
- Born into an Army family, Aaron traveled the world during his childhood, living in places such
- as France and New Mexico, before the family eventually settled in Glendale, Arizona. At
- Glendale High School, Aaron joined the wrestling team and won a state championship.
- He went on to attend Arizona State University, where he earned a degree in Engineering—but
- more importantly, where he met the love of his life, Valerie. Their love story began with a now-
- famous first meeting: Aaron asked Valerie out on a date, but she declined, explaining she had
- chores to do at home. Undeterred, Aaron showed up and did the chores himself, earning that date
- and, soon after, her heart. They were married on September 10, 1977, in San Mateo, California,
- and built a beautiful life together.
- Aaron and Valerie eventually settled in Sacramento, California, where they raised their two
- wonderful daughters, Nicole and LeeAnn. Aaron was a devoted husband and proud “girl dad”
- who reveled in family life. He loved attending sporting events and concerts, golfing, and
- spending sunny days at the beach. Later in life, he embraced the role of “Papa” with joy,
- delighting in the adventures and antics of his grandchildren.
- He will be remembered as the heart of the family—kind, compassionate, and full of laughter.
- Aaron had a gift for making others feel welcomed and cared for. Whether it was a quick phone
- call to check in or a smile across the backyard, his presence always brought warmth. You could
- often find him sitting contentedly in a backyard chair (weather above 70 degrees, of course),
- watching his dogs and grandkids play with a twinkle in his eye and a grin on his face.
- Aaron’s greatest treasure was his family, and he was endlessly proud of the life he and Valerie
- created. His legacy lives on in every round of golf, every backyard barbecue, and every sideline
- cheer at a sporting event.
- Aaron is survived by his beloved wife, Valerie; his daughters, Nicole and LeeAnn; his son-in-
- law, Joey; his grandchildren, Kyle, Blake, Emilia, and Jacob; and his sister and brother-in-law,
- Ena Laurie and John Kearns.
- Though we will deeply miss his presence, we find comfort in the memories, laughter, and love he
- gave so freely. We love you, Papa.
