Aaron Lee Dong Siu Loui

September 9, 1952 — May 19, 2025

In Loving Memory of Aaron Loui

  1. It is with fond memories and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Aaron Lee Dong Siu
  2. Loui on May 19, 2025.

  3. Aaron was born on September 9, 1952, in the Territory of Hawaii to Irene Lee and Lawrence
  4. Hoon Chow Loui. He spent his early years surfing the beautiful Hawaiian beaches and working
  5. in the pineapple fields—experiences that helped shape his easygoing nature and strong work
  6. ethic.

  7. Born into an Army family, Aaron traveled the world during his childhood, living in places such
  8. as France and New Mexico, before the family eventually settled in Glendale, Arizona. At
  9. Glendale High School, Aaron joined the wrestling team and won a state championship.
  10. He went on to attend Arizona State University, where he earned a degree in Engineering—but
  11. more importantly, where he met the love of his life, Valerie. Their love story began with a now-
  12. famous first meeting: Aaron asked Valerie out on a date, but she declined, explaining she had
  13. chores to do at home. Undeterred, Aaron showed up and did the chores himself, earning that date
  14. and, soon after, her heart. They were married on September 10, 1977, in San Mateo, California,
  15. and built a beautiful life together.

  16. Aaron and Valerie eventually settled in Sacramento, California, where they raised their two
  17. wonderful daughters, Nicole and LeeAnn. Aaron was a devoted husband and proud “girl dad”
  18. who reveled in family life. He loved attending sporting events and concerts, golfing, and
  19. spending sunny days at the beach. Later in life, he embraced the role of “Papa” with joy,
  20. delighting in the adventures and antics of his grandchildren.

  21. He will be remembered as the heart of the family—kind, compassionate, and full of laughter.
  22. Aaron had a gift for making others feel welcomed and cared for. Whether it was a quick phone
  23. call to check in or a smile across the backyard, his presence always brought warmth. You could
  24. often find him sitting contentedly in a backyard chair (weather above 70 degrees, of course),
  25. watching his dogs and grandkids play with a twinkle in his eye and a grin on his face.
  26. Aaron’s greatest treasure was his family, and he was endlessly proud of the life he and Valerie
  27. created. His legacy lives on in every round of golf, every backyard barbecue, and every sideline
  28. cheer at a sporting event.

  29. Aaron is survived by his beloved wife, Valerie; his daughters, Nicole and LeeAnn; his son-in-
  30. law, Joey; his grandchildren, Kyle, Blake, Emilia, and Jacob; and his sister and brother-in-law,
  31. Ena Laurie and John Kearns.

  32. Though we will deeply miss his presence, we find comfort in the memories, laughter, and love he
  33. gave so freely. We love you, Papa.
