Welcome to the memorial page for

Justin Michael Hall

December 20, 1969 ~ November 27, 2017 (age 47)

Justin Michael Hall (47) passed away in the evening on Monday November 27, 2017 after living a full life touching many lives. Justin built his life around his families and friends, and in a life full of accolades, he always considered his three children, Jacob (15), Caleb (11), and Abigail (8) as his greatest accomplishments.

Born in Willard, Ohio, Justin began his life as a daredevil and caregiver to others. His mother, Susan, frequently lost her breath as Justin would careen down a cobblestone street without a helmet and come home worn out, falling asleep on the front steps after he played his heart out all day. As he got older, Justin would translate these vivacious activities into intense card nights with the family that endured throughout his life. While a giving spirit throughout the year, Justin especially embraced the Christmas season where he would always look out for ways to contribute to his family and friends--a love that would endure through his gifts to others and his famous holiday noodles among other goodies.

Justin finished his high school years in Plano, Texas where he played offensive line for two AAAAA state championship football teams and the individual state championship in wrestling. From Plano, Justin went on to join the Notre Dame family attending school at the University of Notre Dame, which laid the foundation for a lifetime of service to the next generation. At Notre Dame, Justin proudly wore the #73 on the offensive line, which included playing on Lou Holtz’s 1988 National Championship team and was the first player to ever win five monogram letters at Notre Dame. Justin’s mark still remains at not just the university but also the famed Linebacker Lounge, which still proudly displays Justin’s photo above the bar.

Justin stayed on at Notre Dame as a graduate assistant coach, where he met his wife, Jennifer (Cobb) Hall, whom he married in 2000 and began a family of his own. That year, Justin and Jennifer moved to Sacramento and expanded the Hall family with Jacob, born in 2002, followed by Caleb and Abigail a few years later. Justin loved spending time at Lake Tahoe with his family and friends, especially their annual trips to Camp Sacramento and Father’s Day activities with the children where he enjoyed camping, tossing horseshoes, and cornhole. In the evenings, he loved playing board games with the kids, giving them a fun sense of competition. This contributed to Justin’s extreme sense of pride in his children’s performance in both the classroom and in various sports.

Justin actively involved himself with the Jesuit High School and Our Lady of the Assumption families in a variety of activities throughout the communities. Jesuit particularly played an important part of his life where he thoroughly enjoyed leading multiple Kairos retreats for youth as well as taught, counseled, and coached a number of Sacramento’s young men, including his two sons, Jacob and Caleb. Justin also volunteered for countless hours at the Sacramento Food Locker.

Justin is survived by his wife, Jennifer, sons Jacob and Caleb and daughter Abigail as well as his father Skip, mother Susan, brother Jason, and sisters Jennifer (Lou) Kolosky, and Julie (Billy) Gonzales, his parents-in-law Cathy and Bill Cobb and his sister and brothers-in-law Michelle, Ryan (Catalina) and Chris (Amanda).

The family will hold a vigil on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 5057 Cottage Way, Carmichael, CA 95608. A remembrance of life service has been set for 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4th at the Jesuit High School Gymnasium, 1200 Jacob Lane, Carmichael, CA 95608. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to assist with the childrens’ educational fund at:
